Pool deck crack injection saves owners thousands

Pool deck crack injection
Athens, GA

When an apartment complex’s splash deck had large-scale cracking and soil loss around the area, the property manager called on Concrete Corrections to perform chemical grout injection via probes into the surrounding soils.

While performing this task, the property manager passingly mentioned that the owners were spending between $15,000 and $18,000 a month on their water bill due to cracks inside the pool. Crack injection was then suggested in addition to the soil improvement work initially completed.

The pool had already been drained to allow for unrelated cosmetic work, making the crack injection process straight-forward. Prime Flex 900 XLV, a low viscosity, hydrophilic resin that reacts with water and expands to form a closed cell, watertight foam; was chosen due to its low viscosity and ability to penetrate tight cracks. It is also extremely tough and flexible, allowing for contraction and expansion parallel to the crack in varying temperatures. The product selection was an easy one.

Less than one full 5-gallon pail was needed for the job, which only took one day to complete. A job that was completed within hours with minimal disruption around the property resulted in savings of thousands of dollars per month.
