Surface Sealing Cracks

Surface sealing cracks is typically done as part of the procedure to pressure inject Prime Rez series of epoxy injection resins (for structural cracks) or Prime Flex 900 XLV (flexible polyurethane foam for leak sealing).  In some cases it may be acceptable to only surface seal without injecting, but this is considered a "band-aid' approach.  Pressure injection cures the problem from the inside of the structure and is the most permanent repair.

Surface Seal Prior to Epoxy Injection

The Prime Gel series of products were designed to surface seal a crack prior to epoxy injection.  The strongest product is our Prime Gel 2000 High Mod.  Our Prime Gel 2100 Low Mod may be a better choice if you have cracks that are moving with rapidly changing weather because this product is less likely to crack due to surface movement prior to injection.  Prime Gel 2500 Quick Bond is our fastest setting high strength epoxy and cures rapidly even in freezing temperatures.  Prime Gel 2800 Strippable is a polyurea based gel that is ready to inject in 30 minutes and will strip clean off the surface without the need to grind (applicable for low pressure injection only - below 500 psi).

Surface Seal Prior To Prime Flex Injection

If a crack is wet, epoxy is not going to stick to the surface.  Typically, with Prime Flex injection, you will use Prime Plug hydraulic cement as a surface seal (only if necessary - cracks under 1/8" usually don't need to be sealed).  Prime Plug is available in three different set times and can be used to shut down flowing water.
