Estimating Prime-Flex 900 LVSF For Injection In Cracks with Neat Resin

Convert area to be injected to cubic inches.

12’ long x 12" deep x ¼" crack = 144" long x 12" deep x .250" = 432 cubic inches

Compute volume to fill area.

1 gallon = 231 cubic inches 432 / 231 = 1.88 gallons to fill area

Allow for expansion of polyurethane grout.

1.88 gallons / 5 times expansion = .38 gallon

Approximately .38 gallons of neat resin will be needed for job.

Normal estimation of 10% waste has not been included.

The best estimation for yield will be a test area.

The above calculations do not account for voids found in and behind structures.

Estimating Prime-Flex 900 LVSF For Injection in Expansion Joint Systems

Convert area to be injected to cubic inches. 231 cubic inches = 1 standard gallon.

One quick mix cartridge contains 16.5 ounces of fluid (eleven ounces of 900 LVSF and 5.5 ounces of water) Note: 7.76 tubes = one gallon.

Inject Prime-Flex 900 LVSF from Quick-Mix Cartridges at a 2:1 ratio. Induction time is accelerated with the use of the cartridge system as opposed to injection of neat resin. The reaction begins in the static mixing chamber before entering the injection port. The alternative method of injecting neat resin into the expansion joint will lower induction times slightly due to the fact that the neat resin does not come in contact (react) with the water until after it has passed through the injection port into the expansion joint area.

Use of the cartridge system should yield a more predictable expansion rate but a test area will give the best estimate.

Approximately 8 tubes of 900 LVSF (water & resin) are equal to one gallon.

Mixed 2:1, Prime-Flex 900 LVSF will expand about 500% in a compressed area. Approximately 8 tubes will fill 1155 cubic inches. (231 x 500% = 1155 cubic inches). Normal estimation of 10% waste has not been included.

Once again, the best estimation for yield will be a test area.
