Email Newsletter
- Summer 2007
Dear Friend and Associate,
The temperatures are soaring, the kids are back in school,
and summer is fading into fall. I'm not sure where the time
went, but we've been busy working on a few new products and
some packaging improvements that we think will catch your
interest. We've also decided - since we all stay so busy and
our inboxes stay so full - to condense this e-newsletter into
four installments with an edition published each season.
Since it's not quite fall yet, this will be the summer edition
of our e-newsletter. We've got quite a lot to share, including
a new, no-electricity-required pump, new packaging for our
Prime Seal 5800, and our 25th anniversary birthday celebration.
So peruse at your leisure and try to stay cool through the
last few "dog days" of summer.
Best Regards,

Michelle Robinson

Prime Resins Celebrates 25 Years of Successful
Infrastructure Repair
We're
celebrating twenty-five years of successful infrastructure
repair and restoration and we couldn't have done it without
loyal customers like you! Thank you for your continued support.
Read on for a brief history of how Prime Resins has become
a leading manufacturer of chemical grouts and epoxies.
Founded in 1982 by David Barton, Prime Resins, Inc. was
created as a way to supply his specialty contracting company,
Barton Southern Company, with then difficult-to-find specialized
epoxies. A chemist on staff could tweak the formulas to
make material specifically for the application on the current
job.
“As the contracting business expanded, word of mouth
about the products Barton Southern was using began to build
a market for the epoxies,” said David Barton, President
of Prime Resins, Inc. “I decided at that point to
market the products to other concrete repair specialists.”

Case Study: City of Kings Mountain Sewer Outfall
Line Repair
The
City of Kings Mountain, North Carolina recently used several
resins from Prime Resins' Prime-Flex line of chemical grouts
to repair two 24-inch RCP sewer outfall lines that had been
experiencing severe infiltration. According to Dennis Wells,
Water Resources Director for the city, 40,000 gallons of
ground water entering the system was being treated every
day.
"40,000 gallons is costly to treat, not to mention
the capacity that it was taking away from the WWTP,"
Wells said.

Engineer's Corner: Thermal Expansion of Concrete
Increased exposure to the sun during the summer elevates
temperatures, causing thermal changes in concrete structures.
As a concrete structure increases in temperature, the volume
of the structure expands. This expansion can create stress
when the concrete is restrained, resulting in cracking,
spalling and excessive deflection. (Source:

If you notice deterioration in a concrete structure caused
by thermal expansion, call us. Our Technical Support Specialists
can help you determine what steps to take and what material
to use to successfully repair concrete that has experienced
deterioration due to summer's soaring temperatures.
The Engineer's
Corner is a section of our website specifically developed
to inform engineers and specifiers of technical updates
and to provide assistance in accessing technical and test
information, service education and documentation for the
specification of our products.

Senate Passes ASCE-endorsed National Infrastructure
Improvement Act
On Thursday, August 2, 2007, the Senate passed the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) endorsed National Infrastructure
Improvement Act (S. 775), a bill that would establish a
national commission to assess the physical condition of
America's infrastructure and recommend ways to improve it.
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee unanimously
approved the bill at a committee markup session.
With each passing day, aging and overburdened infrastructure
threatens the economy and quality of life in every state,
city and town in the nation. To read about the infrastructure
issues in your region and how you can help raise the grade
on America's failing infrastructure, visit the ASCE's Infrastructure

motor delivers efficient, consistent trouble free operation.
The FLOWMASTER operates from a separate air source or it
can be outfitted with an optional on-board air compressor.
No electricity is required and there are no gears to jam
