Email Newsletter - February 2007

Dear Friend and Associate,

During the month of February, we celebrate Black History, Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, and Presidents' Day. That's quite a lot for the shortest month of the year. February also boasts an event that is a little less commonly known: the Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo. This year's expo was held at the Gaylord Opyrland Resort and Convention Center in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee.

I was able to attend this tradeshow along with other members of Prime Resins Sales and Marketing Team, and I was thrilled to meet, face-to-face, so many of the people who make my job possible. I am learning quite a bit in my role as marketing manager for Prime Resins and I always look forward to speaking with current and potential customers whose practical and technical knowledge of the concrete repair industry far exceeds my own. If you have an experience to share that would show me how our products have helped you, then I'd love to hear about it! You can send me your story as a reply to this email or call me at 1-800-321-7212. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Best Regards,

Michelle Robinson
Marketing Manager

PS. Don't forget: Daylight Savings Time is once again drawing near and it's time to "spring forward," so remember to set your clocks ahead an hour before you go to bed on March 10th!

Tech Tip: Just Add Water
By Michael Vargo, Technical Support

If you have any left-over Bang-In ports after your next injection job, be sure to add water to the bag. The nylon components of Prime Bang-In ports are presoaked at the factory prior to assembly and are packaged wet. The reclosable package allows water to be added to the bag after it has been opened to maintain moisture. It is important that the nylon be saturated with water so that it stays soft. If the nylon becomes dry, it is more likely to be damaged during insertion or to crack under pressure. Also, the wet nylon allows for a better seal with the concrete during installation. If a dry port is damaged during the insertion process or doesn't form a tight seal, you could end up covered in grout and that is never a pleasant experience!

Hydrophilic vs. Hydrophobic: Which Should You Choose?

Water-activated chemical grouts can possess two distinctly different properties. They are either hydrophilic or hydrophobic. Hydrophilic grout will absorb the water it finds in the concrete or soil. Hydrophobic grout will repel it and push it away.

Prime Resins has been manufacturing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic grouts for years. To help you understand the difference between these two types of grouts we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. Understanding the properties of each will allow you to select the right grout for your application.

To figure out the correct type of grout to use on your next job, visit http://www.primeresins.com/casestudies/hydrophobic_hydrophilic.php.

Case-Study-of-the-Month: Slab Stabilization at Southeastern
Distribution Center

An Atlanta-area distribution center was experiencing a decrease in productivity. The culprit: rocking and thumping floors. Thinking they were in for some extensive rennovations, including tearing out and repouring the troublesome slabs, the maintenance manager called on the warehouse owner to fix the problem. Luckily for everyone involved, the owner of the property was aware of grouting as a soultion.

Have you recently used Prime Resins chemical grouts or epoxies in a repair? Submit details of your repair and you may see your story as the next Case-Study-of-the-Month! Email your details and contact information to mrobinson@primeresins.com or call 800-321-7212 and ask for Michelle Robinson in the marketing department.
